The holiday season got off to a cool start at the November 7 opening day ceremonies for the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square. Figure skating star Brian Boitano, singers from the cast of the musical Dear Evan Hansen and nimble ice skating women kicked off the ceremonies, while the SF Giants seal mascot literally broke the ice — sculpture, that is.
