The grand opening of the new and gorgeously renovated Curran Theater presented opening night of Fun Home, with the hit Broadway show's new touring company, and a red carpet entry accompanied by a marching band. Alison Bechtel, whose graphic novel the musical is based on, was in attendance, along with Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, who spoke before the show of San Francisco's celebration of diversity. The theater's producers, including Carol Shorenstein and her family, spoke after the performance to defend theatres, safe spaces, and the need for the arts in our troubled times. Fun Home is a must-see very queer-themed show, and runs through February 19. www.curransf.com
