Don your cowboy hat and get ready for some at-home toe-tapping tunes when five Country bands perform as part of the National Queer Arts Festival.

The June 12, 5pm concert features Lavender Country, the first out gay country band (since 1973), Amythyst Kiah, the award-winning singer songwriter from the all-women-of-color Our Native Daughters, out trans woman folk-punker Shawna Virago, Haitian-born and UK-based Alt-Americana Country-Noire singer DeLila Black, and the First Lady of Queer Country herself, Cindy Emch of Secret Emchy Society, who curated the line-up, with MC Jbird McLaughlin.

Collectively, and on their own, these musicians have broken stereotypes about Country and Americana music being only about straight romance gone wrong. Through their multi-faceted songwriting, they bring new perspectives with some traditional twang.

"This year I curated a show called The Future is... Queer Country," wrote Cindy Emch in her newsletter. "It showcases a diverse group of mother-trucking queer country rock stars."

Tickets are free/$20. www.emchy.com/nqaf.html
