Online Extra: Smithsonian Pride Alliance hosts online concert and LGBTQ time capsule

Join the Smithsonian's Pride Alliance to kick off Pride month with Project Pride - a virtual concert and time capsule of LGBTQ+ culture, with Jake Shears, Big Freedia, Rufus Wainwright, Indigo Girls, Pet Shop Boys and other talents.

The virtual concert and digital time capsule, scheduled for May 31, 5pm-7pm PST, celebrates LGBTQ+ heritage, culture, and history featuring musicians, artists, and allies, as well as highlights from the Smithsonian collections.

Hosted by Ari Shapiro, the event features (in alphabetical order): Alex the Astronaut, Big Freedia, Bright Light Bright Light, Cameron Esposito, Claud, Dorian Electra, Girl in Red, Indigo Girls, Jake Shears, Joy Oladokun, Kat Cunning, Madame Gandhi, mxmtoon, Nakhane, Pabllo Vittar, Pet Shop Boys, Roxane Gay, Rufus Wainwright, Soko, Tig Notaro & Stephanie Allynne, Tunde Olaniran, Vincint and more.

The broadcast is free and open to the public online and will air on YouTube. Registration is not required.
