The Reverend Lea Brown, left, senior pastor of Metropolitan Community Church-San Francisco, and the Reverend Jeff Bert, far right, acknowledge the church's "Saints Alive" awardees: attorney Ray Marshall, Chief Deputy City Attorney Therese Stewart, and National Center for Lesbian Rights legal director Shannon Minter. The three lawyers argued before the California Supreme Court earlier this year in an effort to overturn Proposition 8. The Saints Alive awards were conceived by the church as a way to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the LGBT community. The awards were presented at MCC-SF's evening service Sunday, November 1.
