In a low-key San Francisco election celebration, openly gay city Treasurer Jose Cisneros plants a thank you kiss on Supervisor Bevan Dufty's forehead Tuesday as several dozen supporters joined him at his victory party at Lime in the Castro. Cisneros, who was unopposed, won with 96.75 percent of the vote, unofficial returns showed. City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who was also unopposed, won with 96.55 percent of the vote, according to preliminary vote tallies. City propositions for a two-year budget, Board of Supervisors staffing, Candlestick Park naming rights, and limiting general advertising on city property all passed; a proposition to have lighted billboards along a portion of mid-Market Street was defeated, unofficial returns showed. In the special election in the East Bay's 10th Congressional District, unofficial results showed a victory for California Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi (D), who was headed to Washington, D.C. to be sworn in today (Thursday, November 5).
