Vicky Kolakowski and Cynthia Laird

Vicky Kolakowski and Cynthia Laird were married Monday, June 16 in Oakland's City Hall. Mayor Ronald V. Dellums performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland).

Ms. Kolakowski, 46, is an administrative law judge for the California Public Utilities Commission. She received her law degree from Louisiana State University; additionally, she holds master's degrees in engineering and public administration. She is the daughter of Martin and June Kolakowski of Staten Island, New York.

Ms. Laird, 46, is the news editor of the Bay Area Reporter. She graduated from California State University Sacramento with a B.A. degree in government-journalism. She is the daughter of Carol Hollingworth of San Leandro and Stanley Laird (deceased).

The couple met in 1994.
