Robbery with force: 18th and Valencia, November 12, 8:45 p.m.: A man was standing on the corner of Valencia and 18th streets when he was approached by four men who surrounded him. "We need $100," one of the men told him. "I don't have a hundred dollars," the man replied. Angry, one of the suspects reached into the man's back pocket and took out his wallet, retrieving a $20 bill from the bi fold. "This is all you have?" the assailant asked. He then punched the victim with brass knuckles, hitting his eye and knocking him to the ground. The four suspects kicked the victim as he lay helpless on the sidewalk and then fled in an unknown direction. A passerby saw the man bleeding on the sidewalk with his wallet nearby. The person, who only spoke Spanish, returned the wallet to the victim and hailed a cab, riding with the victim to St Luke's Hospital, where the victim received 13 stitches to close the laceration above his left eye. The suspects were described as African American, 20 to 25 years old. One had shoulder length hair and wore a gray shirt, burgundy polo jacket, and tan pants with white shoes. The other suspects wore black hooded sweatshirts with black baggy pants.

One of the suspects forcibly took the paper bag the victim was holding that contained his cell phone, a wallet, and about $250. The suspects are described as Asian males, both about 6 feet tall, 18-20 years old. One wore a red hooded sweatshirt the other a black and blue sweat suit. They fled in an unknown direction. Baghdad Cafe, 2295 Market Street, 11-15-09, 3:29 a.m.: After the bars had closed, two men came into the restaurant and ordered breakfast. After they had finished eating, the men ran out of the restaurant without paying the bill and got into a passing cab. The waiter saw them flee and went outside, telling the cabbie to stop, that his passengers had skipped out on the bill. The cabbie stopped and the suspects got out of the cab and started fighting with the waiter. Seeing his employee being assaulted, the manager of the restaurant came out to defend him. One of the suspects punched the manager and bit him several times on the arm screaming, "I have AIDS. I have AIDS." The same suspect picked up an outside chair and threw it at the restaurant's window, attempting to break it. The chair bounced off without shattering the glass but left numerous scratch marks. Hearing the approaching sirens, the suspects threw money at the manager, more than enough to pay for the two meals. Police soon arrived and took the two brawling dine and dashers into custody. One of the suspects, age 31, was booked for aggravated assault, battery, vandalism, and drunk in public. The other, age 34, was booked for battery and drunk in public.

The manager of the restaurant flagged down a Patrol Special Police Officer walking a foot beat. The patrol special officer ran with the manager toward 7-Eleven, looking for the suspect. As the manager and officer reached Hartford and 18th, the suspect had doubled back and ran right into them in front of the Castro Country Club. The culprit was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect, 21, was taken to Mission Station and booked for malicious vandalism.
