Kinsey Sicks protested in South Carolina

sicks.jpgFurman University‘s Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow have organized a petition to complain about the upcoming March 12 performance by San Francisco-based “drag-apella” quartet the Kinsey Sicks.

The Greenville, South Carolina conservative student group says it has “serious questions about the decency of the show … What residence hall sexuality issues will be remedied by drag queens singing about fellatio? What assurances can they give to Furman students that this show will not feature the blatant partisanship, political hate speech and sacrilege that the ‘Kinsey Sicks’ have made the hallmark of their production?”

More then 350 people have signed the online petition, questioning the gay singing group’s fee of $10,000.

The Sicks seem to be reveling in this bit of controversy, as their other red state shows remain, they said, “inexplicably unprotested.”

The news of the protest was also covered in a Greenville TV news segment.

Perhaps if the Sicks do a tribute to Gone With the Wind a la Carol Burnett, they might curry some southern favor.
