Iowa court: Gays must be allowed to marry

A Iowa district court judge Thursday, August 30 ruled that same-sex couples must be allowed to marry based on the state constitution’s guarantee of equal treatment under the law.

The suit was filed in December 2005 by Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund on behalf of six same-sex couples who were denied marriage licenses.

The B.A.R. will have more coverage in next week’s issue.
